About me
She has an MA in creative writing from Lancaster University and was selected for Poetry Ireland Introductions by poet, Vona Groarke. Lani’s poetry has won The Gregory O’ Donoghue International Poetry Prize and The Poetry Ireland/Trocaire Award, and with film director Fiona Aryan, The Bloomsday Award for the best Irish Poetry Film and The O’Bheal International Poetry Film Award. Her poetry collection Landscape of the Body (2023) is published by The Dedalus Press and her writing is featured on RTE radio’s Sunday Miscellany
Lani’s poems have been featured in anthologies by Southword, Bloodaxe, Dedalus Press, The Bridport Prize and RTE’s Sunday Miscellany, New Island and appeared in various journals, including: Poetry, Poetry Ireland Review, Poetry Wales, Mslexia, The Irish Times, Portland Review, Southword, Hive, Channel, and The Stinging Fly. Her poems and life-writing/memoir are featured on RTE Radio’s Sunday Miscellany, and one of her short stories was shortlisted for the Hennessy Literary Award.
Lani was the grateful recipient of a Participatory Project Award from the Arts Council of Ireland in 2023 and Agility Awards in 2024/22 as well as much appreciated grants, bursaries and residencies from Waterford City and County Arts Office, The Tyrone Guthrie Centre in County Monaghan, The Heinrich Boll Cottage on Achill Island, County Mayo and Ballinaharda Literary Retreat in County Waterford. A highly experienced reader/performer and creative writing facilitator, she works as a writer and movement artist with Iontas and as a poet in palliative care with Réalta and Waterford Healing Arts.
Lani is the author of Dancing the Rainbow, Holistic Well-Being through Movement, Mercier Press, The Little Theatre Poetry Pamphlet with Artlinks, Landscape of the Body, Dedalus Press. She is currently completing a poetry collection, About Grief—Songs of Love, supported by an Arts Participation Project Award from the National Arts Council of Ireland.
